SSC is the short form of Staff Selection Commission, is a recruiting organization under which many examinations are conducted such as SSC GD, CHSL, CGL, MTS, CPO, JE, Steno etc. SSC recruit candidates for various posts in different posts under the government of India.
Initially, SSC was popularly known as Subordinate Service Commission but in present it is known as the Staff Selection Commission.
This is an organization that is under the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) having a chairman, two members and a Secretary-cum-Controller of Examinations.

History of SSC
SSC was formed by the Government of India as Subordinate Service Commission in 1975 to take suggestion for reforms of the organization. In the year 1977 of September month changed its name as Staff Selection Commission.
The commission suggested to redefined the functions of the SSC that was done by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances under the government of India. New rules and regulation of the Staff Selection Commission was applied from 1 June 1999.

Examinations Conducted by SSC
SSC conducts various examinations at the national level for the different posts on the various organizations and departments. It takes all the necessary decisions which is one of its function granted by the DoPT.
The examination that are conducted by SSC are: SSC Combined Graduate Level Exam (SSC CGL), SSC Combined Higher Secondary Level Exam (SSC CHSL), SSC CPO, SSC Junior Engineer, Junior Hindi Translator, SSC GD Constable, SSC MTS (Multitasking Staff), Selection Post, Stenographer Grade C & D.
The minimum eligibility criteria to attend under the SSC Exam is to complete 10th to graduation from a recognized board or university.
The full form of SSC CGL is Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level (CGL). Through this examination candidate are recruited yearly in various posts of different ministries, departments and organizations that are under the Government of India.
Required minimum qualification to appear in this examination is graduation from any authorized university/ board. Candidates are hired in the different posts of Group B and Group C through this examination.

CHSL is the abbreviation of Combined Higher Secondary Level, conducted to get recruited many aspirants in various posts that are under various departments, ministries, and organization etc.

Constable (General Duty) in Border Security Force (BSF), Secretariat Security Force (SSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), National Investigation Agency (NIA), Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Rifleman (General Duty) in Assam Rifles.
Vacancies for Stenographer Grade C (non-gazetted post) and Grade D of various departments, ministries and organizations under the Government of India is filled through this examination at national level. The conducting agent of this exam is SSC.
Till now notification for 2020-21 has not released by SSC. But, it is expected that recruitment for 2019 and the number of vacancies for 2019 will be released very soon.
Multi-Tasking Staff is the full form of MTS. There are various departments, offices and organization which are under the Government of India is filled in this examination. Here, candidates are recruited in the Non-Technical posts.
