Salary of an IAS Officer During Training and After Training

Recommendation of the 7th pay commission are permitted by cabinet on 29th June 2016. After that, the basic salary of junior level IAS officers is ₹ 56,100. Here, we have described step by step salary of an IAS officer during training period and after training on the field joining salary.

IAS Officer Salary During Training Period

Basic salary during training period – ₹ 56100/- with @5% DA – 2805/-

Total Amount – ₹ 58905/-

Out of this total amount 10% will go towards for NPS (National Pension System) and also subtracting ₹ 2,000 to ₹ 3,000 per month for income tax.

So remaining total amount: ₹ 50k

Out of this remaining amount approx. ₹ 10k will be deducted for others charges such as mess bill, food, uniform, horse riding, etc.

In Hand Salary during training period is approx. ₹ 40,000/-.

After Training on Field Joining Salary

The IAS officer salary details are listed below according to grade.

   1. Pay Scale: ₹ 50,000 – ₹ 1,50,000
   2. Grade Pay: ₹ 16,500
   3. Years of Service: NA
   4. Post: Sub Divisional Magistrate/Sub-Collector
2. Senior Time Scale
   1. Pay Scale: ₹ 50,000 – ₹ 1,50,000
   2. Grade Pay: ₹ 20,000
   3. Years of Service: 5 years
   4. Post: District Magistrate/Collector/Joint Secretary of a Govt. Ministry
3. Junior administrative Grade
   1. Pay Scale: ₹ 50,000 – ₹ 1,50,001
   2. Grade Pay: ₹ 23,000
   3. Years of Service: 9 years
   4. Post: Special Secretary/Head of Govt. Department
4. Selection Grade
   1. Pay Scale: ₹ 1,00,000 – ₹ 2,00,000
   2. Grade Pay: ₹ 26,000
   3. Years of Service: 12-15 years
   4. Post: Secretary to a Minister
5. Super Time Scale
   1. Pay Scale: ₹ 1,00,000 – ₹ 2,00,000
