CRPF Full Form: Central Reserved Police Force
Having 246 battalions and other related establishment, Central Reserve Police Force or paramilitary force is known as the largest Central Armed Police Force of India.
Ministry of Home Affairs which is working under the Government of India regulates Central Reserve Police Force.
As the name indicates, it is a reserved force which provide assistance to the state and the central government in case of any disturbance within the country. This means their main function is to maintain law and order, and suppress any kind of insurgency. Apart from this, they play very important role during general election in India.
CRPF is very much required in the areas like Jammu and Kashmir, Bihar and in the North East, where the presence of unrest and violent is very common.
The headquarter of CRPF is located in New Delhi, the capital of India. With the purpose of providing training to the young recruited CRPF, an academy was established by the Government of India.

Role and Responsibilities of CRPF
- Tackle the unwanted crowd and suppress the situations like Riots.
- CRPF are deployed in situations like revolt and insurgency suppression.
- In case of any Naxal attack or to counter the uprise of Naxal.
- CRPF are also deployed in the VIP areas and important places such as airports and powerhouses to provide security against disturbances.
- CRPF are given duty to run elections peacefully without any agitation.
- During war CRPF provide extra support to the Armed forces.
- CRPF take participation to oversee the environmental degradation help to preserve the surrounding Flora and Fauna.
- If need, CRPF are sent to the Mission to maintain UN Peace.
- At the time of Natural Calamities in any part of the country, CRPF are called on for Rescue and Relief Operations.
