CEED Exam: Eligibility Criteria, Exam Pattern, Application, Syllabus

CEED is stands for Common Entrance Examination for Design and is an entrance examination which is conducts for admission in national-level postgraduate program of design.

Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India appoint Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay as the conducting body for CEED Exam.

There are many institutions like that offer M. Des and Ph. D Programme like IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Bombay.

Thousands of students appear in this examination every year. CEED consists of two parts i.e. A and B. In part A questions are mainly of objective type questions which is conducted online and on the other hand, part B consists subjective questions which is taken offline.

In the examination of part B questions are asked from topics like drawing, design and writing skill to test their ability and part B examination is mainly for screening test.

Successful candidates of part A are allowed to appear in the part B examination.

Eligibility Criteria

Before applying for Common Entrance Examination for Design, you must obtain certain eligibility criteria. Criteria may vary from college to college. Eligibility criteria for CEED examination are:

• Candidate must complete diploma/ postgraduate/ degree programme which must be of 4 years or 3+2 years or pursing in the last year.

• Candidates of GD Arts Diploma programme (10+5 level) are also eligible for this examination.

• There is no limitation of number of attempts and age.

CEED Exam Pattern

Question paper of CEED has two parts such as part A and part B. Allotted time for both the part is 3 hours. CEED Exam instructions are provided below:

• The candidates will get 1 hour for part A and for part B they will be given 2 hours.

• Question is asked in the English language.

• Part A is taken as computer-based examination but for part B the candidates have to answer questions on the paper sheet.

• In the part A section questions are mainly of objective type and in the part B, questions are set to test on the topics like drawing, writing, and designing skills or techniques.

• 3 marks will be provided for every right Numerical Answer Type (NAT) and Multiple Select Question (MSQ) questions and 2 marks will be provided for every Multiple Choice Question (MCQ). On the other hand, you will be penalty for every wrong answer. In NAT section, 0 marks is deducted; in MSQ section, 0.2 mark is deducted and in MCQ section, 0.5 marks is deducted.

Application for CEED

You must have good understanding about how to fill up application form to avoid any kind of mistakes. Interested students can visit official website for online application for this examination.

For General Category, male candidates need to pay ₹ 3,200 and female and SC/ST/PwD candidates have to pay ₹ 1,600.

Some steps need to follow while registration and application for CEED.

Step 1: First of all, you need to visit to the official websites for the examination.

Step 2: You will be directed to the main page, here, you need to press the registration portal button.

Step 3: A new page will be displayed in front you, to register for the examination, you must provide your email ID. Now, just press the “Register Below” button.

Step 4: An activation URL will be sent to your email ID which will be redirected you to the registration page.

Step 5: Provide all the required information as asked in the registration form. After this, press the “Register Below” button.

Step 6: In this section, you have to provide the last examination qualified along with the year of passing.

Step 7: For mobile verification, press the mobile verification link and an OTP will be sent to your mobile number.

Step 8: Now, it is time to log in the account and enter the rest information in the application form.

Step 9: After entering all the required information, now upload the images asked within a prescribed size and resolution.

Step 10: At the final stage, candidates need to pay the registration fee through online portal.

CEED Cut-Off:

After the examination is over, you will get the cut off marks for part A which is published on their official website. The candidates must obtain the cut off marks to get success in CEED.

IIT Bombay is responsible for the release of cut-off of CEED part A section. No cut-off is released for the part B.

Expected Cut-Off marks for different category are:

• General Category: 27.30, must obtain a minimum of 10% marks.
• OBC-NCL/ EWS Category: 24.57, must obtain a minimum of 9% marks.
• SC/ST Category: 13.65, must obtain a minimum of 5% marks.
• PwD Category: 13.65, must obtain a minimum of 5% marks.

Admit Card for CEED:

A notification will be released for Admit Card/Hall Ticket on the official website of CEED i.e. ceed.iitb.ac.in. All the candidates must download the Admit Card for future purpose.

The Admit Card is as important that you cannot enter into the examination hall. All the details like name of the candidate, date of birth, roll number, gender, category, photograph and signature of the candidates, address of the examination centre and required information regarding examination.

The candidates are advised to take a neat and clean print out of their hall ticket otherwise you will not be allowed for the examination.

Answer Key of CEED:

Responsible authority published Answer Key on their official website i.e. ceed.iitb.ac.in. If there is any objection by any candidate, they are allowed to raise their objection within a specified time. IIT Bombay has the authority to publish the answer key of CEED.

CEED Exam Center:

All the candidates have three options to choose their examination centres. You will not be allowed to change your examination centre, especially in case of your request to change examination centre in the same city.

Syllabus for CEED

Visualization and Spatial Ability, Environmental and Social Awareness, Analytical and Logical Reasoning, Language and Creativity, Design Thinking and Problem Solving, Observation and Design Sensitivity.

Important Preparation Tips for CEED

The most important thing is that it is an aptitude test. One or two books are not enough for preparation and candidates need to buy some important books for preparation.

Other than books, you are advised to focus on skills like rendering, drawing and visualization skills. You can also follow some tips that will help you in the preparation.

Go Through Syllabus: The first thing candidates must do is to go through the syllabus of the examination. list out the important topics and focus on it.

Collect Previous Years Question Paper: The best way to get knowledge about the examination is to get previous years question papers. Analyse the papers thoroughly and practice for better understanding.

Strengthen your skills: Skills like drawing and others is basically depending on practice. The more you practice, the better will be your performance. So, candidates are requested to practice as much as possible.

Prepare a Suitable Schedule: The most important thing to clear any examination is to follow a suitable timetable strictly. The schedule must be comfortable to the candidate and there is also some time for mind fresh up. Set all the subjects in your schedule in such a way so that you can do revision each and every subjects.
