BDC is well known term used at the block level or rural area. The BDC full form is “Block Development Council” and also familiar as “Block Development Committee“.

In Hindi, it is called Kshetra Panchayat Member. BDC is a committee at the block level which works to oversee the development works of Panchayats. In India, for the development of rural area Block Development Committee was for formed as an administration.

BDC Selection Process

The election process of BDC is done by a simple process. This election is done by the Election Commission of the State Government. 

The election is taken with the ballot paper. The election is taken by ward wise, the citizens of a ward can vote to select the BDC member of their Gram Sabha. And there is a number of BDC member can be selected for a big Gram Sabha. 

Completing the voting process, the votes are counted, and wining candidates becomes a BDC member. After this, the certificate is given to the winning candidate by the State Election Commission. And a day is selected to take the oath and oath is taken by the Gram Panchayat Secretary.

Responsibility of BDC

BDC has an important role to develop a village and life style of the villagers. BDC is involved in maximum village development projects. They are responsible for implementation of all the development related Panchayat plans or schemes. The distribution of funds is also done by the BDC itself. They responsible for:
